A tree was bent, but not for the reasons thought -
it wasn’t made by a native tying a knot.
It was made as an older tree fell into the new.
But some would think it is directional (but they’d be wrong too).
There’s no reason for a tree to point to a stream,
when water may be heard by your ears and through your eyes seen.
And surely no one needs a tree as a map
when it’s faster to walk and to just look for sap.
A tree was bent, but wasn’t that big -
Fifty years ago, it was only a twig.
But people would rather fall for a good story
than be not deprived of undeserved glory.
